  1. I think there are a lot of people who set overly-ambitious goals (I’m one of them), and then fail to meet them, and that can get discouraging, and then most people give up. It’s the main reason so many New Year’s Resolutions fail, I think. Then because this was SO prevalent, we started seeing a lot of advice about how we shouldn’t set unreasonable goals b/c of the “setting yourself up for failure” dilemma. Which, can, of course, then be taken too far in the wrong direction.

    I know one of *my* problems is that I consistently fail to recognize that my body won’t let me be the person I want to be.

    One day, I will learn to set realistic goals. One day.

    1. That’s good insight. Yes, we need to be realistic and forgiving of ourselves. Goals can be useful, but shouldn’t be sources of punishment.
