I don’t dislike “fantasy with romantic elements” as a description, but it should be made clear that there are HEAs in the books. Anyone who is primarily a romance reader may be leery of trying a book described as “with romantic elements” as that could easily mean death for one of the main protagonists. And since an author’s website is something many readers at least glance at when deciding to try a new author or not, that kind of info is important. Just my 2¢
As for the so-called SFF purists, they are simply missing out on a lot of good books by pre-judging them for having romance cooties or some nonsense. Their loss!
Good point on the HEAs. So often “romantic elements” means “we’ll get your hopes up and then dash them.”
On the romance cooties… right??? So much this.
I hate it when the pets are killed. We’ve started checking https://www.doesthedogdie.com/ before watching anything that looks questionable.
That’s such great site! I totally get doing that. (And I’m still sorry I killed the horse…)
