I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. May Dave’s memory be a blessing. He got to enjoy a beer, chocolate torte, and pork chops and the help of his stepdaughter in picking out a gift and to hold his hand. That’s like the best outcome. We should all hope for yummy food and the company of family at the end. You wrote in The Tears of the Rose: “Happiness is not thick on the ground – gather it when you may.” I think about that line often. May you and your mom continue to gather happiness where you can. <3
Wow – I’d forgotten about that line. Thank you for reminding me of it. That book, too, was about grieving. I suppose that’s obvious thematically, but also because I was working out grief. Thank you so much for this comment <3
