A shout out to Vanessa Riley's  AN EARL, THE GIRL, AND A TODDLER! Also, a bit more today on terrible email marketing approaches and how the author-reader relationship should be about the long term.

  1. Yes, sexytimes in the arcanium is exactly what I’m here for. *puts on lobster bib* 😀 Gabriel almost held out until the bitter end in Dark Wizard so I want to see some bonding before shit hits the fan.

    1. LOL! Well, I aim to please. The holding out until the bitter end in Dark Wizard is a good point. Whew!

  2. To be fair, you would have an easier time catching up with Leslye’s podcast than she would with yours since she only does one per week. I kind of miss your non-synchronous conversations. I watch/listen to her podcast via her website with no issues. Whereas with yours I now usually go to your YouTube channel.

I like author’s newsletters where they either (a) email only when there is a new release or (b) email once per month or every other month. Just be consistent. It doesn’t have to be new: a cover reveal or blurb one time, a short story or deleted snippet another time, even a ‘hey, have you read my INSERT PAST SERIES NAME?’

I have unsubscribed from so many self-published authors who seem to think they must email once a week or sometimes more. Also I am all for hearing about other books you liked, but there was one author who sent a newsletter once a week with info about 5 or 10 other releases and nothing about her own books. It was beyond aggravating.

    1. Well, it’s not a question of being “fair.” I just fell out of the habit and haven’t found an easy path back.

Good to know on newsletters! Once a week is just CRAZY. And those newsletter swaps are popular. Done authentically those kinds of cross-recs are great. The lazy, sloppy, full-swap method doesn’t help anyone.
