First Cup of Coffee with Jeffe Kennedy
First Cup of Coffee - August 27, 2020
Happy birthday to Stepdad Dave! Also more on the best way to adapt to using a treadmill desk, easing into exercising in general to find those endorphins, and the western tanagers marauding my grape arbor.

I asked Gary about it after your previous post, and as far as I can tell, his problem revolved around his inability to type and walk at the same time (his complaint was actually that ‘he kept falling off’). Basically, if he was doing a call or reading a webpage, he was fine, but if he needed to type, he would stop walking (and working in IT means there’s a lot of back-and-forth between typing and non-typing activities, so turning the treadmill on-and-off would be a pain/require extra thought). I don’t know if you have any advice on how to solve that dilemma…
Hmm. I would suggest walking at the slowest speed. My slowest setting is 0.4 and that’s barely more than standing still. Also, I have found that intensive mouse work is hard to do while walking. If I’m pointing, clicking and dragging a lot, I stand on the side braces. Maybe he also needs to brace his forearms while typing?
Also, these treadmills are way too heavy to move them back-and-forth just because you want to sit down.
Ah. Mine is much lighter and has wheels
