Tis the season for debuts.
I’d like to introduce you to another young lady new on the scene.
Next Tuesday, February 1, marks the release day for First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones. I know you’re wondering how a glamorous young novel gets ready to hit the scene. I’ll give you a little peek.
This gal is acutely conscious of her figure. A good work out starts the day off right.
A healthy (and slimming) breakfast.
A bit of beauty rest for our gal.
Then it’s time for a trip to the salon! A facial is just what a girl needs.
A new hairstyle, to wow the paparazzi.
Dress rehearsal! Trying out her new spot at the book store.
I think she looks amazing, don’t you?
Thank you to Kimberly Hull and Larry Redlin at Skinplicity, the most exclusive spa in Santa Fe, for donating their services. (And yes, I totally told them I’d say that, since they indulged me in my picture-taking.)
As a special bonus, I will give my ARC away to the first commenter who can identify five ways that my ARC cover is different than the final cover (top photo). There are audio book excerpts included!
Okay I'll play. The nail polish is a different color.
if i could live a life like that ARC, i'd be one happy gal.
and, oh, i'm good at spotting differences…
(1) pink triangle with ARC lettering.
(2) toe polish color
(3) nail polish color
(4) author font, placement
(5) title font, placement
congrats to darynda jones on her upcoming debut!
Congrats on the debut release! Abbay picked out all the differences I found. Looks like I need to have a day like that ARC. I so need my hair done!
LMAO, JEFFE!!! I am laughing so hard right now, seriously! I love this. You rock girl. Thank you so much!
And thanks to everyone for stopping by! Too funny!
~D~
Great post as usual, Jeffe. And so inventive.

This was hilarious!! I'm super excited about Darynda's book!!! It deserves the star treatment!!!
:>)
Actually, I found EIGHT differences, Darynda. Isn't there a prize for finding the MOST differences?
1. There's a pink ARC triangle in the upper right corner.
2. Less of her hand is showing in the ARC.
3. Your name is in a different location.
4. The title is located in a different location.
5. The font in your title is different.
6. The words A NOVEL do not appear on the final
cover.
7. The handle on the scythe is different.
8. The toenail and fingernail polish is different.
Great post Jeffe. And just to make everyone drool a little more..I've been lucky enough to read all three of Darynda's books in this series and they just keep getting better and better….
Ooops, I got so caught up in looking for differences I forgot to say, "You go, girl!" You're book really seems to be living it up. Hugs and congratulations!
Hilarious post! I already have an ARC, so I'll pass on the contest…but I sooo love that cover in both its incarnations, and the book is SO MUCH FUN!!!
I can't say how exciting it is to see that picture of it sitting on a bookstore shelf…I cannot WAIT to see it on the shelves for real! (yes, I will be rushing out to buy the hardcover.)
Congrats, Darynda!
Woot! Too cute. Congrats Darynda
Too funny, Jeffe. My favorite picture … dress rehersal. I expect to see FGotR in bookstores for quite a while. The big day is almost here. Congratulations, Darynda!
Thank you guys so much again!!! And thanks, Jeffe. This is just too funny. I owe you a mocha latte. Or a day at the spa!
I love those shoes! Where can I get some?? haha
Congrats, Darynda, on your release!
Michelle, I've tried to get a pair. Searched for weeks! They are, 1) Very expensive ($750), and 2) Impossible to find. The designer died and so I'm not sure what is going on with his designs. Very sad, though. But if you find any, let me know!!!
Thank you all for stopping by! Abby totally rocked the contest, and that early bird gets the worm. But I agree that Laurie should get something – she found more differences than I did! If Darynda doesn't come up with the goods, Laurie, would you be interested in a copy of my very naughty ebook, Petals and Thorns?
Abby – email or DM your addy and I'll send the book along!
Darynda – I'll take you up on either one! Party on, you luscious Deb!
Darynda – There *has* to be a knock-off somewhere in creation. I'll look. 😉
Darynda, Michelle is the queen of shoe-shopping. I wouldn't be surprised if she finds them!
woohooo!!! i'm a winner!!
Chicken dinner!
